Although the Irish Green Gathering is taking a break this year we feel that you may be interested in another fun event taking place locally! Seanchas is a greencrafts and sustainable lifestyle festival taking place in Adamstown, Co. Wexford from the 24th – 26th July organised by a non profit collective, inspired by nature’s potential and human skillmanship. Formed around a number of two day greencraft workshops there will also be demonstrations, performances, drumming, dance, yoga, meditation, healings, music, talks and films. Children can attend for free and there is a childrens area with felting, circus, and drama activities throughout the day. We encourage you to get as involved as you can in open discussion groups, storytelling spaces, open jam sessions and creative corners. Relax in a sauna, meditate in the mornings and soul dance in the evenings or learn to build your own canoe, weave your own baskets or build your own straw bale house! Check out the website for more info, ring Kim on 0871211189 for tickets, or e-mail seanchasfestival@gmail.com if you would like to be involved. Places are limited as this is a small homegrown festival so book your course now to ensure a place.

As many already know we have reluctantly decided not to go ahead with the IGG in 2009, mainly for financial reasons. However, we are keeping open the possibility of coming back to life in the future.
The old Irish Green Gathering website is now frozen, though we are leaving it up for anyone who wants to go there. More photos of the 2008 Gathering will be uploaded here to this new site which we manage ourselves and through which we shall communicate in the future. We shall maintain the existing email address info@irishgreengathering.com for anyone who wants to get in touch but we have closed down the dedicated phone line 053 9255671.
My own feeling about the festival is that 2008 was pretty good (though we still managed to lose a little money) but that if we revive it in the future we shall want to go more ‘green’ and less ‘rock’; and generally less ambitious and smaller in scale. Growth is not our objective. Financial sustainability is however essential.
Thanks to all who have helped us in the past and remember that although we are now dormant we are not necessarily dead.
